Early Tuesday morning, Justin Timberlake found himself in legal trouble after being arrested by Sag Harbor police on Long Island.
The renowned pop star was charged with driving while intoxicated following an incident where he allegedly ignored a stop sign at Madison Street and Jermain Avenue in Sag Harbor.
According to court documents, Timberlake was driving a BMW when an officer observed him failing to stay in the correct lane shortly after midnight.
Upon being pulled over, officers noted signs of intoxication including bloodshot and glassy eyes, along with a strong smell of alcohol emanating from his breath. Timberlake reportedly performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests. Despite claiming he had only consumed one martini and stating he followed friends home, Timberlake declined to take a chemical test.
The singer was subsequently arraigned at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court around 9:30 a.m. and released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance is scheduled to be held virtually on July 26. As of now, there has been no comment from Timberlake's representatives regarding the incident.
Timberlake, a Tennessee native and former Disney Mouseketeer, rose to fame as a member of NSYNC before embarking on a successful solo music career and venturing into acting.
His achievements include numerous Grammy awards and Emmys, and he is currently touring internationally in support of his latest album, "Everything I Thought It Was."
Sag Harbor, located approximately 100 miles from New York City, forms part of the Hamptons, known for its affluent residents and summer vacation spots.
